Kelsey Crawford is a visual artist, certified wholistic nutritionist (CN), herbalist creative, and a level III Usui Reiki practitioner. She founded Go Forth Culture (now, The Painting Herbalist) in 2013 and has been providing nutrition counseling and workshops in her community for the past five years.

She began her educational journey into wholistic wellness by becoming the youngest graduate of the Juut (Aveda) Institute’s Ayurvedic based self-care curriculum, in 1992 at the age of 13 in Minneapolis. Throughout her teens, Kelsey worked as an intern on her aunt’s ranch in Southern Oregon, studying native plants and learning the basics of biodynamic farming. After spending nearly 20+ years in the culinary industry, moonlighting as a touring musician, Kelsey returned to school and earned her nutrition certification from the Wellspring School for Healing Arts, in an extensive holistic nutrition program. Graduating in 2016, Kelsey was then hired on by the Wellspring School for Healing Arts as their social media manager and continued to do so until 2019.

She continued her education in herbal formulations through NUNM (National University of Natural Medicine), as well as caring for cancer, women’s wellness, and medicinal herbs in a culinary application through the Wellspring School for Healing Arts.

Kelsey was first introduced to universal energy work in 2008 by a family member/Reiki practitioner & universal energy worker. Although she recently completed her formal Reiki training and received her certification at the beginning of 2020, Kelsey’s informal education in energy work has been ongoing for over a decade.

Her passion for illuminating the connection between the creative and healing arts is informed by her philosophy that creative expression comes in all forms as a fundamental element of holistic wellbeing.

Fall 2020 ~ UPDATE

Greetings friends,

First and foremost, I want to send my love and support to you during this time. I know that many of you (like myself) consider Reiki an integral component of your self-care system.

I believe that now more than ever healing Reiki energy is deeply needed to help us navigate 2020. In an effort to continue facilitating Reiki for folks to the best of my ability, I will be offering distance reiki sessions for the foreseeable future. Unfortunately, at this time I am unable to offer in-person Reiki sessions.

*Due to individual state laws, I am unable to offer my nutrition and Reiki services to residents in Florida & Texas.

*Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have regarding this announcement and to inquire about sliding scale pricing.

  • I met you at your place of employment this Sep. my wife and I were on an auto trip from CA to Oregon, with a 3 day stop-over in Portland. You and I talked about music, which is obviously important to both of us. You gave me your business card, which I stuck in my wallet… and finally pulled it out just now, and went to your web site. I am very, very impressed with you, as you so beautifully described who you are and what you stand for. Your photo at the end is quite beautiful. If you were in the SF Bay area as a Personal Chef (very popular here, and lucrative) I would not hesitate to have you prepare meals for the freezer. For my wife’s and my 50th anniversary, my daughter contacted a Personal Chef who weekly came to our home, one day a week for 6, and prepared a week’s worth of meals. She contacted us ahead of time with menu choices for each week. The Chef initially interviewed Marilyn and me to determined our food preferences. Our Chef brought her own cooking devices and fresh food. Everything was packaged with preparation notes on each package. When she left, the kitchen was spotless and she even took the garbage with her. Boy, did we get spoiled!

Kelsey, you have a distinguishing specialty in cooking that would set you apart from all other personal chefs. I hope that you are able to follow your dream and become famous for your cooking and music :>)

On another note, musical note that is, do you have anything on YouTube demonstrating your singing? If I remember, also play the piano. It would be so nice to be able to see/hear you on YouTube.

    With much admiration,

Don Salle (I wish that Marilyn had met you as well)

  • Don! Thank you so much for the kind words and vote of confidence. It truly takes an inspiration or an idea to get going. I feel so inspired by everything you’ve shared in your above comment. It’s nice to hear what kind of experiences people have had with a personal chef (along with some good tips too)!
Clearly we’re both music lovers as well! Personally, I have a hard time being in the kitchen without music on… and a good glass of Spanish wine (Lezaun Navarra 2008 is my current favorite). I too wish that I could’ve met Marilyn, but I am so happy I was able to connect with you! best wishes to you and may our paths cross again someday!
